include's support offer
include’s programmes for vulnerable young
people and their families work to support those young people who
are experiencing difficulties within school the school environment.
Typically these young people are:
- those deemed ‘in need’ or ‘at risk’,
- those deemed by the Children’s Services Authority/Local
Authority or school to be in need due to their difficulties in
sustaining a placement in mainstream school,
- those young people and families considered to be in need of
support during transition between schools or key stages.
include has the capacity to intervene at
different levels within a Children’s Services Authority; responding
at whole CSA level, school cluster or partnership level, or with
individual schools to support extended school provision.
include has experience of
delivering support programmes in East Anglia, Buckinghamshire,
North Tyneside and South Wales, where the programme has been
delivered as part of the behaviour support plan for over ten
years.
include offers a service that
is flexible and tailored to the unique and personal needs of
individuals. Programmes can be delivered in school, in the home and
in any other setting that is appropriate to the development of the
young person and/or their parent/carer. Provision is provided
year round including school holidays as well as evenings and
weekends as is necessary.
include help parents/carers
with the strategies they need to work with the school positively to
help their child achieve their aims and meet their need to feel
successful in their parenting role. Additional needs of
parents we address are: provision of independent support in
meetings with statutory agencies, provision of information that
assists them in parenting, provision of practical support to help
them meet the needs of the child and their siblings outside
school.
For young people, include
provides an independent, flexible, dependable figure to support
them in identifying why things are happening/’going wrong’,
developing alternative approaches and supporting them in achieving
change through an individual plan. Thus they maintain their
place in school, the risk of offending behaviour is lessened and
they are enabled to make the most of the opportunities in school
and/or change their lives outside school.
include aims to provide an
independent, flexible and accessible source of support to the
schools. We support school staff in developing strategies to
help the young person achieve their aims to enable change and
thereby contribute to their ultimate success. We also provide
a communication channel with home as well as with other agencies
and other people involved with the young person, offering each an
independent insight into others points of view.
We support parents, young people and the
school in viewing each other more positively and communicating more
effectively.
For other agencies
include provides effective communication channels
– developing cooperation between all parties by placing an
independent, accessible person at the centre that has unique
knowledge of the young person and the home.
